The 25th of April marks five years since former Barcelona manager, Tito Vilanova passed away and a number of the club’s stars have led the tributes to the man who won the La Liga title in his only year in charge.
The Spaniard was assistant to Pep Guardiola at the Nou Camp before eventually taking the managerial reigns on his departure in 2012 was highly rated at the club and was a subject to an eye gauge from Jose Mourinho during his time at Real Madrid.
Vilanova won 34 out of the 45 games he was in charge of, before leaving his role on medical grounds with the former Barcelona man eventually succumbing to cancer at the age of 45. A number of the top club’s stars took to social media to pay their tributes to the man who played an important role in the development of many of the players.
Lionel Messi took the lead posting “Always with us,” on Instagram while Sergio Busquets said
“#TitoForever #TitoEtern,” Five years without Tito.
In my thoughts forever #TitoForever #TitoEtern,” posted now Chelsea forward Pedro, with Jordi Alba too revealing that, “We miss you. Alway with us! #Tito Etern,” said Jordi Alba.
Under Vilanova, the Catalan giants registered 100 points in 2013, something which Guardiola failed to accomplish during his historic reign during his time at the club.
