Ajax skipper, Matthijs de Ligt, has opened up on their famous win over Juventus, claiming that he, “has no words” after they knocked out the Italian giants out of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

The young Dutch side beat Juve 3-2 on aggregate over two legs, with their performance coming after their famous win over defending champions, Real Madrid in the round of 16 stage of the competition.

The 19-year-old who has emerged as one the best young players in the world, called the win as “bizarre”.

“It’s bizarre, it’s not normal. I have no words for it. We have shown once again that we are very strong and that we can make it difficult for large teams. We have beaten Real and Juventus, two intended title candidates, I wasn’t born the last time we reached the semis,” he said post the game.

“I was going a bit crazy because we couldn’t convert any of the chances. In the first half they were slightly better and deserved to take the lead. But apart from the first five minutes of the second half, we dominated after the break and were well worth our victory. In fact, we probably should have won by more,” De Ligt added.

The Dutch side will meet either Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester City in the semifinal stage.
