City were able to scrape through a 1-0 win against Brighton, and were nowhere close to being their best. Brighton, however, were not able to threaten much and so City reached the FA Cup final for the first time since 2013.
However, Toure has suggested that City would have lost that game if it was a top team rather than Brighton, and said that Guardiola would not be happy with that performance.
“I think for [Guardiola] it’s not just about the result,” Toure told BBC Sport, according to Goal. “It’s about everything. I was a little bit concerned because City lacked energy. They were sloppy. After the first goal we saw more of Brighton than we did of City. Maybe if they had faced a better team they would be out.”
“They are still on their game and looking forward,” Toure added. “They have an important game on Tuesday [against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League] against a better quality of player. It is going to be a massive game.”
City are fighting on all possible fronts, having already won the League Cup this season. They are aiming for a historic quadruple, a feat that has not been achieved by any English club ever. City will next face Tottenaham Hotspur in the Champions League before resuming their league campaign where they are battling Liverpool fro the title.
