Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente is enjoying life under Santiago Solari, claiming that his situation has changed drastically over the last couple of months.
The Spaniard once again put in a commendable shift in the 3-1 Copa del Rey quarter-final win at Girona on Thursday night. Not only was he brilliant in the middle of the park, but he also scored Madrid’s third goal on the night.
Since Solari’s appointment, Llorente has been granted the necessary minutes to showcase his talent. While Casemiro brings solidity to the team, Llorente is more about finesse and precision – both invaluable for a team as ambitious as Real Madrid.
After helping Madrid secure their place in the Copa del Rey semi-finals with a 7-3 aggregate scoreline, Llorente, as quoted by Managing Madrid, said: “I am very happy because after an injury it’s difficult to return to the dynamic of the team and find rhythm, but I think I am close to the Llorente of December. My situation has changed dramatically and I am very happy and taking advantage of my chances.”
Llorente was then asked about Karim Benzema, who netted a superb brace against the Catalans.
“There is no other striker like Benzema, he is very important to us. Cristiano? He will always be remembered at this club, but we must turn the page. We have three competitions to fight for and we must strive to win each title” he concluded.
